Face Enrollment
Face Enrollment captures three employee face snapshots, builds a browser template, and prepares data so kiosk face verification can run reliably.
Used By
HR, kiosk admins, or onboarding staff
Main Output
face snapshots, browser template, and updated employee photo
Main Requirements
camera access, enough lighting, and a valid employee ID
When to Use
- When a new employee will use kiosk devices with face verification enabled.
- When an old face template must be refreshed because the stored snapshots are no longer accurate enough.
- When HR wants to update an employee profile photo directly from the same camera workflow.
Before You Start
- Make sure the employee ID is correct and the person in front of the camera matches the employee master record.
- Use even lighting on the face. Avoid strong backlight, blur, or standing too far from the camera.
- If the browser asks for camera permission, allow it before starting the capture flow.
Enrollment Workflow
- Open People & Payroll / Settings / Face Enrollment.
- Search or scan the employee ID until the employee record appears.
- If needed, click the employee photo to update the profile photo directly from the camera.
- Capture three snapshots: Front Face, Slight Left, and Slight Right.
- Review each slot. If a result is weak, use Retake.
- Click Save Enrollment to save the snapshots and build the face template.
Snapshot Rules
| Slot | Required Pose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Front Face | Face straight toward the camera. | This is the main reference snapshot. Try to keep the eyes, nose, and mouth clear and stable. |
| Slight Left | Face turned slightly to the left. | Do not stay too straight and do not turn too far. The system rejects results that are still too similar to another slot. |
| Slight Right | Face turned slightly to the right. | Make sure it is clearly different from the left slot so the template stays more stable during kiosk verification. |
Automatic Quality Checks
- The system checks whether a single face is detected clearly.
- It checks face position, face size, lighting, head tilt, and blur before a snapshot can be accepted.
- If quality is too low, the snapshot cannot be used and the dialog explains the reason.
- Live face landmarks appear during enrollment to help framing, but saving still depends on the quality gate.
What Gets Saved
- Enrollment snapshots are uploaded to the
faceenrollmentfolder, not the attendance proof folder. - If the employee already has an enrollment, older snapshots appear again when the employee record is reopened.
- The active face template is then available for
face_apiand any other verification provider that depends on enrollment data.
Common Issues
- Left or right snapshots are hard to pass: turn the head slightly, keep the face clear, and avoid staying too straight.
- Snapshots fail on quality: improve lighting, move closer, and hold the camera more steadily.
- Landmarks do not appear: check camera permission, video feed quality, and whether the face is actually inside the frame.
- Template save fails: make sure all three slots are filled and each slot passed pose validation.
